Abstract
In this paper, we propose a new fairness criterion based on QoS satisfaction of users. Unlike the existing throughput fairness criterion suitable for non-realtime traffic and the existing delay fairness criterion tailored for real-time traffic, the proposed QoS satisfaction criterion handles heterogeneous traffics in an unified fashion. Based on the new fairness criterion, we propose a cross-layer resource allocation scheme for downlink multiuser OFDM with heterogeneous traffics, where user scheduling is followed by subcarrier-bit allocation. The resource allocation depends on not only the channel state information (CSI) and QoS requirements of users, but also random packet arrivals and queue states. Simulations confirm significant performance improvement and user QoS satisfaction fairness by the proposed scheme.
