Abstract :
This paper presents a brushless permanent-magnet (PM) DC motor for use as the spindle motor in compact-disk read-only-memory (CD-ROM) drive. The proposed motor has a slotted stator and an outer-rotor which uses a high energy NdFeB magnet for excitation. The design and optimization of the motor was performed with the aid of electromagnetic field analysis based on the finite element method. Computational and experimental results of the motor are included
