Abstract :
In response to an ever-increasing need for cells with greater capacity at higher current, the LSH20 HD, a D-size high rate LiSOCl2 cell designed to perform in the 0.1-5.0 A range with a 30 to 50% increase versus the existing LSH20 standard cell, was developed. The design is described. The capacity vs. current in the 0.1-5.0 A range varies slightly with the discharge conditions. Depending on current, there is a 30 to 60% improvement vs. the standard LSH20 cell and 15 to 70% vs. existing LiSO2 products. The position of the cell during discharge does not influence performance. The LSH20 HD D-size cell combines attractive energy capacity with operating voltages above 3 V in a wide temperature range
