Abstract :
The accuracy of a sine wave frequency estimation by means of interpolated discrete Fourier transform (IpDFT) method is affected by systematic errors. They are due to the interferences from the image parts of the sine wave spectrum and depend on the acquisition parameter - number of recorded sine wave cycles (lambda0). In this paper, for a sine wave corrupted by quantization noise, the accuracy of the sine wave frequency estimation by means of IpDFT method using the Hann window is analyzed as function of lambda0. This study allows us to determine a condition for the integer part of lambda0 which ensures that the systematic errors are very small compared with the quantization noise. Simulation results confirm the effectiveness of the derived condition.
