Abstract
Many international EMC standards are republished in Europe as European Norms (EN). The regulatory regime in the European Economic Area places particular requirements on these harmonised standards that are not an issue with their international equivalents. This paper describes some of these, including dates of withdrawal and the cessation of presumption of conformity, common modifications, the advantages and disadvantages of dated and undated references, and problems caused by the inclusion of regulatory requirements.
