Abstract :
The theme of this paper is the work that is ongoing within the Scottish Qualifications Authority (SQA) to meet the needs of the electronics manufacturing industry. It sets it in context alongside the wider national framework of engineering qualifications. A number of the initiatives will not fall into place until we are closer to the next millennium, notably in two areas: one is the implementation of `Higher Still: Opportunity for All´ to bridge the academic/vocational divide in the post-16 curriculum and the other is the completion of the framework of qualifications up to level V in the SVQ framework
