Abstract :
The purpose of this project is to design and produce an electronic esophageal stethoscope to be used by anesthesiologists during operations. The device currently in use relies heavily on the interpretation of the user. With all the background noise in an operating room, it becomes difficult for the user to differentiate every sound that is received. The goals of this project is to construct a stethoscope that is computer based, analyzes the signal received, process those signals and visually present them in a clear manner. The aim of this device is to lessen the chance for mistake of the anesthesiologist when listening to the vitals sounds of a patient under anesthesia in the operating room. The design shall take into account the constraints of electrical leakage, ease of use and overall performance of the device.
