Abstract :
We propose the use of a mutually complementary communication protocol (MCCP) based on destination oriented directed acyclic graph (DODAG) using multi-interface communications. Recently, research on smart home is getting more active because of the public opinion on energy saving or comfortable living. The architecture of smart home includes sensor networks that are important infrastructure to collect environmental information such as temperature, humid, or brightness. The MCCP is suitable for such sensor network because of its feature, interface switching and DODAG routing. In this work, for the performance evaluation of the MCCP, we developed evaluation boards which are connected with both power line communication (PLC) and the IEEE 802.15.4 module. An experimental result shows that the DODAG routing, which we discussed in this paper, is useful for the complicated topology such as PLC/RF integrated network of the MCCP.
