Abstract
This paper presents a reduced order, high-fidelity model of super capacitors for vehicular power systems. First, a high-fidelity, high-order circuit representation of super capacitors is considered. Then, the balanced order reduction technique is used to extract the low order model from the original higher-order circuit. The reduced-order model is, then, fit into a 3rd order circuit. The compact circuit results in shorter computational time while maintaining the simulation accuracy. Impedance characterization verifies the final model accuracy in both lower and higher frequency ranges.
