Abstract :
Estimating groundwater consumption by phreatophytes (ETGW) is particularly difficult. Because of the irreplaceable advantages of diurnal water-table fluctuations, it is widely adopted by many ecohydrogeologists to estimate ETGW using the common White method. Yet, it has been prove that the White method incorporates a significant source of error due to the problematic assumptions. The contemporary literature contributes to lots of work in modifying the specific yield and net recovery rate in White method formula but pay little attention to the dynamics of hydrograph. Base on a case study, the difference of estimating ETGW between using raw groundwater data and removing effects data presents in the this paper. The results show that it will underestimate nearly 30 percentage of ETGW in the condition of no removing effects. So, it is highly recommend the raw data of water table should remove any effects, before estimating ETGW using White method.
