Abstract :
After recalling the origin of complexity in microwave heating, and the objectives of microwave heat treatment, the authors analyse two “channels” through which uniformity of such treatment can be ensured, with control of the spatial distribution of heat sources. They go on to analyse consequences of control of the rate of heating in terms of chemical engineering. Examples of an industrial nature illustrate the concepts presented
