Abstract
An increasing level of wind power generation in the Irish power system makes more difficult the control of the power system due to high variability of wind power output in a time frames from seconds to hours. The characteristics, and some analysis of the power system operation with different levels of wind power output are described in the paper and proposals on power control under fluctuating wind power output are made.
