Abstract :
An all-optical header extractor for hybrid packets with intensity modulated label and differential phase-shift-keying modulated payload is presented. The device exploits the nonlinear characteristic of a Vertical Cavity Semiconductor Gate (VCSG) based on saturable absorption in semiconductor multiple-quantum-wells. The scheme operates asynchronously and is independent of the input signal polarization state. High suppression of the packet payload was observed.
