Abstract :
In this paper, we investigate the effects of RF impairments and imperfect channel state information (CSI) on the performance of M-QAM orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) employing maximum ratio combining (MRC) receiver architecture in Rayleigh fading channels. We derive the BER expressions for M-QAM OFDM with the effects of the RF impairments and employing R-branch MRC receiver structure with and without perfect CSI. Simulation results are also presented to illustrate the extent of the effects on system performance degradation.
