Abstract
As computer interconnects require higher bandwidths, a move to an optically switched system becomes an obvious move. However, this move away from the traditional electrically switched system presents a series of challenges. In this paper we outline the architectural challenges such a change makes, and the evaluation challenges faced due to lack of detailed inspection of short reach computer interconnects, and discuss how we plan on tackling them.
