Abstract :
The paper presents a method for giving a reliable statement of power produced by a wind farm. The method is based on the forecast of the wind conditions for a defined time period and derives from this the possible power output. This possible power output is calculated by removing a safety margin from the forecast. In an economic consideration, the influence of the safety margin on the electricity production costs will be calculated. Furthermore the profitability of the wind farms will be compared to conventional power plants.
