Abstract :
A multichannel adaptive equalization method is presented for use in cellular digital radio to combat the effects of rapidly changing frequency selective fading. This signal processing technique can be applied in a communication system employing diversity antennas, with each antenna output downconverted and fed into a multichannel digital filter. Simulation results indicate performance improvements with this filtering method applied as a diversity combiner/adaptive equalizer. Performance comparisons to other sub-optimal techniques and theoretical bounds are presented
