Abstract :
Recent research on a leaky-wave antenna loaded with periodical strips has shown that its sidelobe far away from main beam is high. In the present work, it is shown that this is caused by the radiation of the antenna exciter. The related harmonic transmittivity is derived along with a spectral domain expression for the field generated by the antenna excited by line current or waveguide. Then the saddle point method is used to calculate the far field. Computed results are shown to be in very good agreement with experimental measurements.<>
