Abstract :
GRNET, the academic and research network in Greece, is currently being undergoing major upgrades. In addition to packet-based IP services, circuit services will also be offered to local universities and research institutions. End-to-end wavelengths and SDH circuits will be dynamically established and released, allowing dedicated bandwidth pipes to interconnect subscribers. This paper presents design issues and implementation plans of GRNET.
