Abstract
The least time-maximum probability theory of lightning propagation shows that for every structure there is a safe and a lethal zone during a lightning storm. The LT-MP theory is the scientific basis for the existence of lightning protection zones (LPZ), and the existence of LPZs is the technical justification for designing lightning protection systems. The paper discusses effective lightning protection system design based on the LT-MP theory of lightning protection.
