Abstract :
The planar microstrip-fed quasi-Yagi antenna has shown excellent radiation characteristics over a wide frequency band. In this paper, we report a modified version of the quasi-Yagi antenna to further improve its performance. The C-band prototype antenna measures 50% bandwidth (S/sub 11/ < -10 dB) and higher gain (6.5 dB) than the original quasi-Yagi design. The antenna radiates a well-defined endfire beam, with a front-to-back ratio > 20 dB and cross polarization level below -18 dB. The enhanced performances have been confirmed by both FDTD simulations and measurements.
