Abstract :
Current acoustic noise standards for induction machines originated when electric motor operating conditions were far less complex than those of today. The use of adjustable speed drives, incorporating electronic inverters, has led to dramatically changed motor noise characteristics. This paper presents a systematic approach to broadening the existing standards, to make them more useful in the true operating environment
