Abstract
A novel control method for three-phase low-harmonic diode bridge rectifier that applies the third harmonic current injection is proposed in this paper. In order to minimize the input current THD and to preserve high rectifier efficiency for high rectifier loads, a resistor-free current injection network is modified in order to provide controlled current injection. Depending on the load current, the rectifier operates in discontinuous or in the continuous conduction mode. A control algorithm that minimizes the input current THD is proposed. Feasibility of the proposed concept is verified experimentally and by simulation.
