Abstract :
In this paper, the control problem of excess-loop length of strip-caster is proposed. To realize an accurate loop length control, a linear CCD camera is adopted and an heuristic algorithm for loop length inference is developed. In addition to these, a simple but effective adaptive fuzzy control algorithm which is asymptotically stable is proposed as the control algorithm. By implementing these in a specially designed computer control systems and applying them to a pilot strip-casting machine, the proposed methods are shown to be reliable and give good performances. The proposed systems have been implemented at the pilot strip-casting machine in POSCO
