Abstract :
Multiple exposure-based methods have been an effective means for high dynamic range (HDR) imaging technology. However, current methods are greatly dependent on the estimation of scene irradiance and with huge computation. This work presents a novel HDR method based on the image partition and merging strategy. In the algorithm, all the images with various exposure times are firstly divided into some sub regions and a gradient method is implemented to judge the well exposed one. With all the image blocks have best exposing quality are selected, a blending function is proposed to remove the transition boundaries between these blocks and then it is used as the weight for the image merging. Experimental results on public image libraries are given to demonstrate its high performance.
