Abstract :
The paper is concerned with the modelling of a novel axial flux permanent magnet (PM) synchronous machine with excitation control and the development of a nonlinear excel spreadsheet program which provides design data based on the machine magnetic equivalent circuit. The program employs lumped reluctance simulation, which helps the designer to predict performance with sufficient accuracy and minimum time computation. The results obtained are compared with the measured ones carried out on a prototype.
