Abstract :
This paper describes an operational system utilizing forward scattering of VHF radio signals by ionized trails left by meteorites entering the Earth´s upper atmosphere. The phenomenon resulting in the scattering of signals will be only briefly described to furnish background material since numerous papers and articles are available which cover the subject in great detail. Actual system design will then be discussed relating the phenomenon to operational system and equipment requirements.
