Abstract :
Hand-held metal detectors are the most used technical systems in humanitarian demining. But their main disadvantages are the high false alarm rate and low spatial resolution. This paper gives an overview how advanced signal processing methods for soil compensation, signature classification and 2D-image reconstruction combined, can significant lower the number of false alarms of inductive metal detectors.
