Abstract :
The goal of this design project is to create an optimal bone plate and screw system to stabilize the stifle joint for a circular tibial tuberosity advancement procedure to treat canine CCL rupture or instability. Design objectives and specifications were developed and several design alternatives were created utilizing a functions-means chart. Six selected possible designs were modeled via CAD and various prototypes and tested via finite element analysis and mechanical testing. The project is currently in the preliminary mechanical testing phase, focusing on collecting data to select two final designs for manufactured prototypes. Future plans include the manufacturing and testing of the selected final plate and screw systems designs.
