  • Abstract
Approximately 450,000 intramedullary procedures are performed annually in the United States. Today´s active lifestyles generate a greater need for operative treatments to repair fractures and return patients to work and activity sooner. Piecewise Devices provides a flexible interconnecting rod that inserts easily, improves conformation to the natural curvature of the bone and locks the fractured bone with minimal use of invasive screws. The Piecewise device will reduce costs by $135 million dollars annually.
