  • Abstract
Dual channel based access protocol has advantages on solving hidden and exposed terminal problems of ad hoc network. This paper proposes DCMA (dual channel multiple access) series channel access protocols, namely DCMA-PSBI (packet sensing with busy indication) and DCMA-CSBI (carrier sensing with busy indication). DCMA-CSBI completely solves hidden and exposed terminal problems by using BI (busy indication) control packet and sensing the carrier of the control and data channel. It not only improves the frequency spatial reuse, but also eliminates data packet collision. The paper analyzes the performance of DCMA series protocol through simulation. Comparison result shows that DCMA-CSBI is an efficient and practical ad hoc network dual channel access protocol. The paper also proves the importance of carrier sensing for ad hoc network dual channel access protocol.
