Abstract
This paper considers the problem of estimating instantaneous frequency of digital signals that have narrow-band time varying spectra. Instantaneous frequency estimates are derived from a spectral computation based on the use of the adaptive two-sided linear prediction (TSLP) rather than the usual form of one-sided linear prediction (OSLP). Numerical examples show that for one and two sinusoids, the TSLP filter order required to resolve sharp spectral peaks is lower than that of the OSLP filter, and then, the TSLP approach is more computationally efficient than OSLP method
