Abstract :
The wide harmonized spectrum in the unlicensed 60 GHz band has been considered for WPAN standardizations. Recently there is also growing interest in the industry to use the same band for multi-Gigabit WLAN usages and standardization. In this paper, we describe the unique challenges and analyze the feasibility of realizing a multi-Gigabit WLAN in this band. We present analysis and simulation findings on the transmission range and spatial reuse opportunity with beamforming. We also explore options for range extension and multi-band integration.
