Abstract :
A low complexity algorithm for compression artifacts reduction in low bit rate video is presented in this paper. The algorithm is designed to work in real time on a mobile platform. It detects and suppresses the blocking and the ringing artifacts in the decoded video, while preserving the details in the image content. The algorithm works on the decoded video frames, without knowledge of any information from the coded bit-stream. The experiments performed with a large set of user generated videos verify the algorithm´s performance and effectiveness.
