Abstract :
In this work, the lightning impulse test and the calculation analysis is done to compare CMCA with the steel cross-arm (SCA) and the porcelain cross-arm (PCA) in the same double-circuit towers. The postive lightning impulse test is used to get 50% probability of the breakdown voltages (U50). Based on the experimental data, it´s calculated to evaluate the lightning withstand levels of CMCA tower. The results show that the CMCA tower is a good choice for frequent lightning, stormy weather. The data can provide the reference for the large-scale applications of the CMCA towers in the lightning protection of 10 kV distribution lines.
