Abstract :
A set of appropriate indices are used to evaluate the reliability of the power provided from the Egyptian transmission company through a set of specified delivery points to EHV& HV consumers and distribution companies. These indices comprise: System average interruption frequency index (SAIFI), system average interruption duration index (SAIDI), system average restoration duration index (SARI) and system average interruption severity index (SISI). This paper addresses the delivery point interruption performance concept and presents the results obtained from the application of the mentioned indices for all delivery points on the transmission and sub-transmission networks during the last five years (2001/2002 - 2005/2006). The obtained results are analyzed and explained. The past delivery point interruption performance is quantitatively assessed and the major influencing factors are determined. In addition, the weak areas are identified, hence the appropriate actions required to be taken are recommended. The findings serve as a guide for determining acceptable values for the reliability indices in future reliability assessment. It is also recommended that the application of quantitatively reliability analysis shall be one of the most important input parameters to the decision making process for expansion and reinforcement schemes.
