Abstract :
High speed, high integrity data transmission from moving vehicles presents problems in areas of multipath propagation, and in shaded areas such as cuttings, as well as in tunnels. In these situations the use of a leaky feeder is likely to be advantageous, especially since economy of transmitter power is possible, an important factor in spectrum conservation. This paper establishes the feasibility of transmitting high integrity data from a vehicle under test to a base station at much higher rates than is normally considered possible over a mobile radio channel, by means of a leaky coaxial feeder.
