Strategic challenges in implementing NIS: Investigations on data quality management

The aim of this paper is to review the current state of use of digital NIS (Network Information System) among grid operators and come up with recommendations for future strategies for successful data acquisition and data quality maintenance in such systems. The study reveals that more attention should be paid to the following question: What information does it need-to-know and what is only nice-to-know? What information is absolutely necessary to ensure efficient operation? Two main strategies for data maintenance are also discussed. In conclusion, companies needs to spend more time and resources when articulating its data needs. This will save money during data collection, as well as ease the problems of maintaining data quality later.
