Abstract :
The unsteady flow characteristics prevailing in a simple axisymmetric combustor are described. Unexpected bimodal velocity distributions are present in various regions of the flow, which are not accounted for in mathematical models. Understanding and accurate modeling of such flow behavior is essential as it can significantly affect the fuel/air mixing process, thus impacting combustion efficiency and emissions
