Abstract :
In December 1979, a maximum speed of 517 km per hour was achieved on the 7 km Miyazaki Test Line by the propulsion test vehicle using.a superconducting magnetic levitation linear synchronous motor. This paper summarizes the basic design concept of the superconducting magnetic levitation system , the general outline of test facilities, their test results and the future test running plan and schedule. It includes information about the ML-500 type high speed test vehicle and the ML-500R type test vehicle equipped with an on-board helium refrigerator, operated on the Miyazaki Test Line.
