Abstract
Scaled model test is an effective way to know transmission lines lightning discharge process. In this paper, an UHV transmission lines model with the ratio of 1:12.5 is applied in laboratory study on the discharge path probability. Negative switching impulses are used to simulate the electric field produced by lightning. Factors influencing the discharge process have been studied in detail, including DC voltage, grounding method of phase lines, wave front time, etc.
