Abstract :
The deflection routing strategy is similar to the `hot-potato´ technique and has been proposed for high-speed networks. An analytic model has been developed to study the performance of unbuffered and buffered deflection routing in regular networks, like the Manhattan Street network. This model is extremely accurate, as can be seen from the comparison with simulation results. The results show that the Manhattan Street network performs well under a heavy load; the introduction of a few buffers improves the throughput and delay in the network to a great extent
