Abstract :
This paper deals with the propagation of UHF radio signals along a radiated mode leaky coaxial cable in tunnel environments. In the study we model the radiated mode leaky coaxial cable as an array of magnetic dipoles. First of all, we calculate the radiation pattern of the cable, and then we simulate the distribution of the received signal levels in a tunnel. It is found that the received signal levels are flat in the region where the cable is installed and dropped quickly in the region where the cable is not installed. Finally, we study the wide band performance of the radiated mode cable in time domain
