Abstract :
A configurable PWM controller using a field-programmable system-on-chip device was implemented. The advantages are demonstrated in a buck converter with 200 kHz switching frequency. The paper defines the key design issues and discusses the limitations of the chip for power converter applications. With some performance improvement in the future, a mixed analog/digital programmable IC is a promising candidate for low-cost PWM controllers.
