Abstract :
A general approach for the online damage detection of laminated composite plates is proposed in this paper. In order to detect the damage of plate structure, a damage feature vector extraction method based on the lifting wavelet packet transform is proposed for detecting damage from original signals. Structural damage feature vectors are calculated based on energy variation of the structural vibration response signals decomposed by lifting wavelet packet transform between the intact and damaged structures. The results demonstrate that the energy feature vector is a good damage index that is sensitive to structural local damage.
