  • Abstract
A simulation of a DECT (Digital European Cordless Telecommunications) system with multiple transceivers per base station (BS) using a 3D-ray tracing propagation model has been performed in a realistic indoor environment. Results show that the DECT (operating at a frequency of 1880-1900 MHz) system performance can be quite different from those predicted with simpler empirical/statistical propagation models as they do not account for the influence of building typology and base station placement on the propagation mechanism. Therefore, a deeper insight into the propagation mechanisms and a more accurate performance evaluation can be obtained especially when a high number of BSs is used to meet a high traffic density
