Abstract
This paper describes how an approximation technique, based on the extended describing function concept, can be employed to derive a small-signal model of the current-source parallel resonant DC/DC converter. By this method, one can then obtain the frequency responses of the output voltage to frequency control, to duty-ratio control, and to source and load perturbations, useful for dynamic response studies and for control design of this converter. Analytical results derived via the proposed procedure for a design example are presented along with corresponding test results, which show generally good agreement with each other.
