Abstract
This paper will discuss some of the considerations involved with the design and development of a premium radio system for today´s automotive market. By premium, we are referring to a top-of-the-line system that includes capabilities for the reception of AM and FM signals along with either an 8-track or cassette tape deck option. The paper emphasizes the developmental considerations involved for O.E.M. or factory installed systems rather than those that may be part of a dealer or aftermarket system installation. It will also primarily be directed towards our experience at Delco Electronics in the development of entertainment systems for various General Motors´ vehicles over the past several years.
