Abstract
Detection of edges in a color image is a very important step for a complete image understanding system. The presence of impulse noise, however, can significantly degrade the performance of the edge detection process. This paper shows how the combination of fuzzy models for nonlinear filtering and edge defection can provide a useful resource to address this issue.
