Abstract
Although research on algorithms for sound sources localization and tracking using microphone arrays are known for years, providing an interface to switch from one algorithm to the other is rather new. In this work we provide some drivers that will allow the Delay Sum Beamforming (DSB) algorithm to understand and interpret Generalized Cross Correlation (GCC) results to fasten the DSB computation. This approach reduces the sound source search spectrum by computing the DSB solely around the GCC sound source direction of arrival (DOA). This work also explores flexible architectures to integrate the system and show that our approach reduces the DSB computation by more than 50% thus improve throughput.
